All of the personal trainers at The Runner’s Academy are registered kinesiologists with degrees from accredited Canadian Universities, and they also hold certifications with reputable strength training organizations. Our trainers take a personalized, goal centered approach to assessment, program design and motivation.

During your first assessment, our trainers will discuss your health history, your complete exercise/training background and your future training goals. From this, our trainers will prescribe a program based specifically on where you are starting from. Your progress is then tracked throughout the sessions and there is continuous re-evaluation to ensure goal centered training. Whether you are coming back from injury or looking to start your first 5km training plan ever, our trainers are passionate about helping you improve your form, strength, mobility, power and speed.

As kinesiologists, our trainers are well versed in the latest sport rehabilitation and exercise science. With proper exercise progression and evidence based protocols, we will help you integrate a strength plan into your routine, or your busy schedule. Working alongside our chiropractors, physiotherapists and massage therapists, our trainers can deliver complimentary exercise therapy and goal drive strength training.

What is Kinesiology?

A registered kinesiologist is a healthcare professional who is registered with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario. Kinesiology is the study of human movement during sport, performance and everyday life. A Kinesiology degree usually takes 4 years to complete and involves in depth study of human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and physical assessment.

Targeted Packages

Return from Injury Package  | ($550 +HST )

Have you recently been injured or had to take time off from running?  This plan is for you!  Building back into running after time off should be a process!  Let us help guide you there, no matter what level of runner you are.  We can help you build that momentum back and find joy in running again!

What’s included in 5 sessions;

  • Initial movement and strength assessment (60mins)
  • Stride analysis, video, & feedback (60mins)
  • Run technique improvements, drills and homework (60mins)
  • Session for a daily activation and mobility program (60mins)
  • Session for a foundational strength program (60mins)
  • 10 week plan for gradual return to running

Strength and Speed Program  |  ($650 +HST)

Many runners we encounter don’t include enough targeted strength exercises into their training plan.  Let us design a program for you that will both target run specific strength and enhance ability to generate speed on the run!

What’s included in 6 sessions;

  • Initial movement and strength assessment (60mins)
  • Session for delivery of strength program (60mins)
  • Session for a daily activation and mobility program (60mins)
  • 3  updates to strength plan over 24 weeks
  • 24 week program

New Runner Plan  |  ($450 + HST)

Do you want to start running but aren’t too sure where to start?  We can definitely help you get started and show you how to keep going!  This program will give you all the tools that you need to build a strong foundation and find joy in running.

What’s included in 5 sessions:

  • Initial movement and strength assessment (60mins)
  • Stride analysis, video, & feedback (60mins)
  • Run technique improvements, drills and homework (60mins)
  • Session for a daily activation and mobility program (60mins)
  • Session for a foundational strength program (60mins)
  • 10 week Learn to Run plan

Run Strength and Movement Essentials |  ($350 + HST)

Is strength training missing from your training plan?  Have you been doing the same few exercises over and over?  Let us design you a strength plan that gives you the exercises you need to support your running goals!

What’s included in 3 sessions:

  • Initial movement and strength assessment (60mins)
  • Session for delivery of 6 week strength plan (60mins)
  • Session for delivery of daily activation, mobility and recovery (60mins)
  • Tailored Strength plan to suit your goals

Run Coaching
Are you looking for a personalized run training plan? We’ve got you covered! We offer monthly subscriptions to accessing a run coach who will deliver an online training plan to you. You will also have weekly email access for questions and concerns, as well as one monthly virtual check in (30mins) to chat! You will also receive access to targeted strength, mobility and recovery plans!  Let us guide you through your running journey!
