Pelvic Physiotherapy for Every Body.

It doesn’t have to be “just the way it is” and you don’t have to settle!

Your life shouldn’t be limited by your pelvic floor.

Pelvic health is for everyone, not just postpartum care. Pelvic floor dysfunction affects active humans of all genders, ages and levels of performance, potentially impacting bladder and bowel function, sexual health, pain levels, and athletic performance.

More impact than you might expect.

The pelvic floor plays a crucial role in core stability, pressure management, and recovery after injury or surgery. When it's not functioning optimally, you might experience:

  • Bladder leakage during high-impact activities

  • Pressure or heaviness when lifting

  • Recurring hip or back pain that affects training

  • Core weakness that limits performance

  • Discomfort that extends beyond the gym into work and social situations

We Don't Believe in "Just Stop"

These symptoms are common and incredibly frustrating when you want to perform at your best. Too often, when athletes seek help, the first response they hear is to stop lifting, running, or playing their sport. That is simply not the answer to your problems.

At The Runner's Academy, we believe that staying active is part of the solution, not the problem. If you're looking for a long-term solution to manage symptoms while staying active, we've got you covered.

Our Comprehensive Approach

We combine evidence-based treatment methods tailored to your specific needs:

  • Education to help you understand your body and symptoms

  • Hands-on manual therapy techniques

  • Targeted exercise prescription for your sport and goals

  • Internal assessment and treatment (vaginal or rectal) when appropriate

  • External techniques and movement retraining

Whether you're dealing with exercise-related leakage, recovering from surgery, managing pelvic pain, or working to return to competitive sport, we'll identify the factors holding you back and create a personalized treatment plan.

Your Path Forward

Walk out of every session with a clear understanding of your progress and next steps. Our aim is to help you rebuild strength, restore function, and return to the activities you love, with confidence.

Pelvic Health FAQs

  • Pelvic health physiotherapy is a specialized area of physio focused on the muscles, joints, and connective tissues of the pelvis and core. It supports people with issues like bladder or bowel leakage, prolapse, pelvic or hip pain, pregnancy/postpartum recovery, and return to sport.

  • No referral is needed! You can book directly with a pelvic health physiotherapist. If we think medical follow-up is important, we’ll guide you.

Some insurance plans do require a referral from a doctor in order to approve coverage. If you have extended health benefits (insurance to cover physiotherapy care), it may be worth checking in with your coverage provider to see what your policy requires.

  • Not always. Internal exams (vaginal or rectal) give us the best picture of how your pelvic floor is functioning, but they’re never mandatory. We’ll always explain options and work with you to create a plan that you’re comfortable with.

  • Nope! Pelvic health physio is for all genders and ages. We help athletes, older adults, new moms, and anyone dealing with pelvic floor-related issues.

  • Nope! Pelvic health isn’t only for people with problems it’s also for anyone who wants to better understand and support their body. We can help with:

Preparing for childbirth or recovery afterward

Learning how to safely return to lifting, running, or sport

Preventing future issues like leakage or prolapse

Building confidence in your core and pelvic floor connection

Think of it like seeing a dentist, you don’t wait until you have a toothache to go for a check-up. Pelvic health physio can help you move, perform, and feel your best at any stage.

  • Leaking with running, jumping, coughing, or laughing
